Title:

Director of the National Ethnographic Museum of Armenia in Sardarabat.

 

Description of Project:

The funds will be used to prepare a digital catalogue of the more than 7,000 archaeological artifacts in the Museum, the second largest museum in Armenia.  Dr. Barseghyan and his staff will collaborate with archaeologists from the Institute of Archaeology & Ethnography in implementing the catalogue.  The digital catalogue will be implemented by use of Database of Museum Values software which NEMA received from a “Cultural Heritage Initiative” Grant by the World Bank to the Government of  the Republic of Armenia (June-2000 – December 2002)  implemented by the “Hayastan” All-Armenian Fund. 

 

Anticipated Results:

This will be the first attempt to catalogue an entire archaeological museum collection in Armenia, which will not only create a nationwide inter-museum network, but will significantly increase the accessibility of Armenian historical and cultural heritage for the global scholarly community
